Terry Mcllvain Celebrity interview

Celebrity Interview

Terry Mcllvain

With the start of the National Finals Rodeo fans like to ponder about the great movies that were made with roles revolving around the WNFR.  George Strait's movie "Pure Country" was a hit!  Many still remember the actors who performed in this movie and we got the chance to interview one of them!

He's know as the brother of the lady who George fell in love with in the movie.  He's also known for his work in earlier movies such as "Platoon" and in the rodeo world he's know for being a top notch bull rider and member of the Mcllvain rodeo family from DFW.  If you say the name "Terry Mcllvain" to "Don Gay" certainly would see a big smile from Donny.  Bull riding families and friends in Texas go way back further than the distance from here to the Milky Way.

We spoke to Terry last month and asked him a few questions:

Who is your favorite bull rider? "Glen Mcilvane, Donnie Gay, Pete Gay".

Pets, do you own any?  "I have cats, Stormy stormy grey cloud lioning, Russian blue, he was one of my cats".

What does the general public not know about you?   "In 1983 I lost my hand during a bull ride at Billy Bob's, I grew up getting on "turn out" bulls owned by Neal Gay.  That time I rode this bull who didn't buck much, just jumped around some, and then he caught me off guard and the next thing, I didn't have my hand anymore".   "Being at the hospital and going through the surgery and rehabilitation is a memory I would like to forget".

Today Terry is the Director of Creative Affairs at Creative Talent Productions, Actor at Columbia TriStar Television and Warner Bros. Entertainment.  He's established artist with artwork hanging in some of the biggest Hollywood producer's offices and he's a very good writer.
