2013 Reflection
Happy New Year from all of us at Indian Rodeo News
The year ends with many well wishes for 2014. This year was pretty good for everyone involved with rodeo, ranching, showing and most of all our fans. Though we did not see a Native win a world title at the WNFR. We are sure to see them return for 2014, perhaps a lady Native barrel racer as well.
Our travels this year to the rodeos were not as big as originally mapped out. We did get to return to the 2013 Omak Stampede and Suicide race where we saw Loren Marchand and Taz win the 2013 championship. Omak rodeo has changed some, since I have been there in the 80’s as Miss Indian Rodeo. They have a new arena, but the nightly live band and entertainment hasn’t changed at all. We did endure a wicked storm Saturday night, where at one point, many were worried we would see a tornado, which luckily we just got high winds and lots of rain.
Jokes were made the next day at the final round by WNFR 2012 Barrelman “JJ Harrison” about the arena being muddy in one section and dry in the other. Which many questioned the same thing. JJ Harrison, when we first seen him perform at the 2012 Omak Stampede rodeo I knew he was going to be seen more often at the PRCA rodeos. Talented and funny, with tons of energy. Some say a kid magnet, I say a successful barrelman who will continue to soar with his rodeo act and see him in 2014 at the WNFR. Fans like spontaneous comedy and JJ brings that to the arena. Boring old rodeo clowns with trick animals, seems to be something of the past.

This year ended on a very high note for Indian Rodeo News.com. After many requests for myself to attend the WNFR in person, to cover the ropers and bareback rider Bobby Mote. This year, we made it happen. I would like to thank the PRCA and their media team for welcoming me with such professionalism.
To end 2013, are two short articles on Loren Marchand and JJ Harrison. Both hail from the Northern skies of Omak and Colville country. Although JJ, makes his home now in Walla Walla, Washington, we’ll surely see him and Loren at the 2014 Omak Stampede and Suicide Race.
Best of luck to everyone for 2014. We’ll see ya’ll on the rodeo trail.
