Indian Rodeo News began in 1996, founded by world champion Miss Indian Rodeo of North America 1985, Gina Northover. The publication created a new generation of rodeo fans, cowboys, merchants and technology used in the rodeo world. Prior to Indian Rodeo News, there was very little opportunities for communication of rodeos across the United States and Canada. IRN served as the galactic gateway for cowboys to get rodeo entry information and fans to find out when and where they can travel to Indian country, to see the orginal cowboy, the Indian cowboy compete in the rodeo arena. IRN served organizations such as the INFR, Intertribal Ag Council, and many member rodeo regions to promote their events, while they didn't have a operating and constantly updating professional website portal. We were credited for expanding the economy of Indian rodeo by recognizing the cowboys and cowgirls, stock contractors, history of the Native American tribes and their celebrations. The original crew of volunteer reporters were: Carmela Scott (PRCA reporter), Sheila Totten (Bull Riding events reporter), Colleen Crawler ( Indian rodeo reporter) and Gina Moore, (CEO and Editor). We credit the reporters and writers who have contributed to Indian Rodeo News throughout the years. (Mindi Fish, Jenifer Manuel, Kari Zubach, Brenda Wilson, Sonya Taypotat)
Recently we welcomed Troy Watlamett in 2010 when he covered the Wild Horse Racers at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, Troy now works the Pendleton Round Up each year for us. We value his contribution.
